| - Bike Pittsburgh is a fun way to explore the city. The 3 hour tour of Downtown and North Shore took us by various landmarks such as the Cultural District, Strip District, and Point State Park. Val was very knowledgeable and informed us about the Carnegies, Frick, Heinz, and other people that helped build Pittsburgh. Fun fact--there is a "fourth river" (really, an aquifer) that provides water to the Point State Park fountain.
The tour is from 11 AM to 2 PM, but I thought it should have been an hour earlier. It was getting quite hot near the end, and biking past the Strip District while hungry during lunch hour was torture. Be sure to bring bottled water, some snacks, sun screen, and sun glasses. You can bring your own bike, rent from Golden Triangle bike rental, or rent from one of those new racks all over the city. Val just started this place in May, so I'm sure they are still working out some kinks.
