  • My fiance and I came here last night to meet up with a friend celebrating his birthday. There were only 5 of us but we had a really nice time. Even from the street, you can tell that Frankie's is pretty small and other than the fact that the sign boldly proclaims the place to be a tikki bar, from the outside its pretty nondescript. When we got there the parking lot was packed, no spaces available, so we parked at the hospital, but I'm not too picky about having to walk across a street. We walked up to the door and the bouncer outside checked our ID's, addressed us each by our names, smiled, and told us to have a good time. Why thank you sir! Don't mind if I dizooo! It's so interesting to walk into a building with so little features on the outside, but with such character on the inside. There's not a single inch of the place that isn't decorated, but it isn't tacky. The ceilings are covered with woven wood like a hut, but also draped with fishing nets. There's a half "eaten"' woman's torso strung up in the netting (It's actually a mannequin figure with tattoos painted onto it, and the lower abdomen is painted and sculpted to look like innards, a lot cooler than it sounds, promise), lights that either have been made to look like puffer fish or are puffer fish that have been made into lights ("Oh, the things you can find if you don't stay behind!"), around the room there are a couple Tiki Totems, and several really creative paintings in (from what I can remember) bamboo frames. The seating is sparse, but not cramped, and there's one particularly appealing area in the back with a semi "covered" booth seating. The drinks are sweet and strong, and for an extra charge, you can get a collectable ceremic tiki totem glass. I had the Wild Watusi and was good to stick to one beer after that. My fiance had the Tiki Bandit which was less strong. On the menu, under the description of the drink, they have a number of skulls up to 5 to give you an idea of how strong the drinks are, but I don't think I actually saw any drink below a three skull. Fine by me though. All in all, some pretty cool stuff. Although expensive for a "dive," worth the ambiance for sure. Will def be going back.
