| - I was first impressed when I walked in the door. I didn't really know what to expect from this place- boyfriend picked it so I didn't have a chance to Yelp-stalk it like I normally would. :-)
The ambience and décor in the restaurant were very chic. It was comfortable and inviting, although there are high, industrial ceilings and glass walls throughout. Had an edge of luxe without being pretentious.
We were greeted immediately on a quiet Tuesday by a hostess with too many questions. I was a little put off by that- I don't want to give you my name I just want to sit down! But I understand.
Server stopped by as soon as we sat down and explained the menu, process and recommended some drinks. Service was very attentive and friendly- dirty plates cleared immediately, drinks refilled promptly.
The cold foods bar was very impressive to me! I loved all the options of meats, cheeses, salads, veggies. All things you wouldn't find at a typical salad bar. I can't even call this a salad bar. It was like a heaven for me.
I wasn't very impressed with the hot sides- rice, beans, mushrooms, soup and au gratin potato, I believe? I know this place is geared towards meateaters, but I would have really loved a side of broccoli or carrot or other hot vegetable.
The meat was fantastic. Everything they brought was expertly prepared. The lamb.... Oh the lamb! The food was coming at a comfortable pace and I was happy with the variety.
However, I just don't have the room in my tummy for a place like this. I was even careful not to fill up on sides, but I really could not eat as much of the meat as I wanted.
As a result of this, I felt like the price was not a very good value for me.
For my bf who ate ONLY served meat and has a voracious appetite- may have been a different story.
It's a fun experience and you should check it out at least once!
