Angel Park is a real bread and butter golf course. Never too challenging if you don't want it to be, but many of the holes offer real risk/reward scenarios for aggressive and/or good golfers. A forced carry 200 yard tee shot to the right on a par 5 for an easy bird/eagle attempt, or a nice 150 yard iron shot to the left to setup for a par in 3... This is hole 6, one of the most challenging (or not), and definitely most interesting holes on the course. Water is in play on many holes, and so is the desert. There are some holes with significant carry off the tee, but for high handicappers, the elderly and shorter hitting ladies the red tee boxes take it out of play. My wife really enjoyed the course, and felt the red tees were excellently laid out for those lacking significant carry off the tee.
Maintenance was very good, and the greens were fast and true. Service was also very nice. My only real problem with the course was that the lakes on the course had a horrible smell to them, and even more worrisome was the number of dead birds I found around them. With all the West Nile fears these days I hope the management of the course is addressing and investigating this issue. If not for the dead birds this would have been a 4-5 star review.
