| - Hilariously bad service.
I took an iPad in for the lower dock to be repaired. I get back an iPad that can now charge, but registers touches constantly and has smudges and handprints under the screen. I take it back for a subsequent repair. Instead of calling me, I call them after a few days (promptness isn't skill, but I wasn't in a hurry anyway). Ready to pick up but bad news, it isn't working! I arrive, and the iPad has collected an even wider assortment of debris under the glass.
When I pointed out the frustration of having to return now a 3rd time for an old iPad, and wanting a guarantee for work quality and acknowledgement the work to this point has been subpar, they instead said they wouldn't do business with me. Apparently I was standing there being sarcastic by saying that the trend down was concerning, and I wanted more than "We'll take it apart and clean it" to ensure I wasn't going to have to take a 4th or 5th trip in.
In the end he refused to do anything about the iPad they ruined or refund my money.
Bad news: I'm out the cost of repair (but the chargeback I filed should help), and 3 trips wasted.
Good news: The restaurant right next door has pretty good pork buns, hopefully not filled with greasy palm prints and flecks of who knows what... Actually, best not think about that.
Update: I went on to iFixit and ordered the repair kit with a new digitizer. I took the iPad apart, and the internal screws holding the LCD were all missing. The screen was filthy, but I was able to clean the LCD. I swapped the digitizer they claimed to replace (I don't believe it at all) and my iPad works again. It was a fun project with my kids, so I guess I should thank them for their ineptitude.
The repair was difficult but the iFixit.com guide was great and we just had to go slow. Definitely try that instead of getting ripped off by these guys!
