| - Ah, the Lakeview.
I stayed here for 5 weeks while I was in Calgary for work. It really was a little home away from home.
My room was a studio in the corner, so I only had windows in my living area, and none in the bed area. I was disappointed at first, but after a day or two I appreciated it because it meant my little bed nook was dark and cozy and so easy to sleep (especially since it was summer solstice and it was light out well past 10pm).
My kitchen had a full fridge and freezer, cupboards with the basic kitchen stuff you need, a microwave and a little stove top (two electric burners) as well as a dishwasher. Some of the rooms have full stoves/ovens, so ask ahead of time if you'd prefer that. There wasn't a kettle in the room. Since tea is an absolute necessity for me, and making it in the coffee machine is less than desirable, I asked at the front desk and they gave me a kettle to use for the whole month. I also asked for some dish soap and a sponge as I don't really need to use a dishwasher for just myself. There are washing machines and dryers on most floors for a few quarters or loonies.
I'm not really a big TV watcher, but if you are the TV swivels from the couch area to the bed for convenience. I spend many hours on my laptop at the desk, or at the breakfast counter. And once you hooked up to the free wifi, it was good anywhere in the hotel.
The breakfasts in the morning were a pretty great start to the day. There was always coffee, juice, bread, pastries and waffles. But they changed up the hot food selection daily.
The staff was great too! They treated us well. Special shout out to Cory, who worked nights. He was extra patient and nice!
I soaked in the hot tub at least a few times a week. The pool was ok, not the best as it's very shallow. They also have a teeny mini gym if you need to run on the treadmill.
Location is ideal if you need to be near the airport. But it's also accessible to downtown Calgary if you want to check it out. The hotel shuttle will take you over to the C-Train station, so you can hop on and explore the city.
There is a Timmie's right next door to the hotel, and an A&W and a Cactus Club very close by as well.
I'd recommend the Lakeview for sure.
