| - Way to start a happy relaxing Saturday .
I've taken my 11 year old mini schnauzer-chihuahua mix here maybe 5x. Unfortunately, I do not go as often as I should and with my mom having an accident, etc. it had been about 5 weeks, so his nails were way too long. Usually when this happens, the groomer is gentle and grinds them just a bit and I get back on a schedule of coming every two weeks until the nerves recede and they can be clipped more closely. Had a girl I'd never seen before - whose '20 years of experience' apparently gives her a false sense of being more knowledgeable than she is about dogs. She started cutting the fur (rapidly, thought she'd cut his foot) from around his toe doing in the doorway because I said I needed to hold him, he's skittish. I asked if we could please go back to the table, as I have rods in my back and he's heavy. She obliged. She never pet or spoke to my dog, she was very rough/mechanical and began clipping his nails - no grinder - just clipping them all. I should have stopped her but I didn't want to make a scene... all of his feet were bleeding profusely. She started putting syptic powder on all and getting another girl to wipe the blood and his feet all the while telling me in some pseudo ignorant authoritative tone that this was normal that his nails were curling (they were not) and she had to do it and no big deal. I said I think I've read a dog can bleed to death from nail cuts too close and she said, 'yeah, that's if you cut the veins'. Isn't that what you just did???? She told the other girl to take him and wash his feet which I didn't like, I'd already said he was skittish and I needed to hold him. Then when the girl tried to give him back to me she told her to go dry them, at this point I really just wanted to leave, bad. I figured dry with a towel; so the second girl goes back there in a side room with a hair dryer... I keep thinking he's going to have a heart attack; he's terrified by now. The groomer girl goes back and they keep drying and drying and I figure out that vet school dropout groomer girl is trying to stop the bleeding! I tell one of the ladies that owns the biz (two older sisters that argue in front of customers - very unprofessional) I need my dog, now. It takes me a few times they finally bring him and miss know-it-all wants to blow the dog hair off of me... are you serious - um no. When I check out I tell the other owner/sister that I'll never be back and after 100's of times doing his nails this has never happened. She doesn't say a word. I go on to say I may have to take him to a vet and this is not how I wanted to spend my day... still silence. I'm thinking, 'wth am I paying for this experience?'. No I'm so sorry, no offer for me not to pay, nothing. Then I leave, say have a nice day get in my car and start backing out of the parking lot and the other sister from the back is at my car window - startled me and very creepy. She wanted to talk... I said no. She said that happens sometimes I said no it doesn't not with a good groomer and as I tried to back out she said, I'm sorry but I think you're wrong. I'm sorry to say by this point I was really loaded and lost it and rolled down my window and said something nasty to her.
But, Really lady? You're going to come out to my car???? Wow.
They have a sign that they've been voted best groomer in LKW. Aren't they the ONLY or one of two groomers in LKW? Don't go; two very unprofessional ladies own it and always different ppl working there; must not be able to keep good help. As I said, won't be back.
