  • . ~~ WELCOME ~~ For those who wear them, we ask that you please remove your DUNCE CAP. ~ Ask for your copy of "Helpful Information" available inside. ~ You may replace your cap onto your pin-head after leaving. Thank you. Have a nice day. It sure would be nice if every store that carries a large inventory of merchandise would be permitted to post this prominently on their door. Until then, I feel that it's the responsibility of all those with common sense to enlighten those who don't. Had a very pleasant experience at this Crocker Park Sephora. I met 3 friendly, smiling, helpful employees. One in particular---a real sweetheart---made enough of an impression on me, that I was compelled to write my store review from an altogether different perspective. Having a sales background myself Icould easily identify with her and all that's expected of them in what can be a very demanding profession---no matter what the products might be. For those who use common sense---this list isn't for you. It's for the "others"---the ones who haven't got a clue. HELPFUL INFORMATION (Answers that never crossed your "minds?") 1. Why can't they answer my question? Are they THAT stupid? Maybe they're newly-hired. Back off---cut some slack. And for both new and experienced it's impossible to know everything, especially if there are thousands of products. Could YOU? Pause for a moment...close your eyes...I know it's hard for you to think, but try. Do your air-headed expectations make any sense? 2. Why do they keep FOLLOWING me? Why can't they just leave me ALONE? They've been told by corporate that this is what is expected of them. Quotas. To make SALES, stupid! Some businesses pay next to nothing---maybe as low as minimum wage. If lucky, they're paid hourly plus commission. Some, JUST commission. But before going ah-HAH! that could mean .50 for a $10 item. After an hour---wow---maybe $6-7.00. If their being too close bothers you, why can't you just nicely tell them that you'd rather look for something on your own? I GUARANTEE that they'll give you the space you need. Aren't I a genius to have come up with that? 3. I'm PO'd ! Why doesn't someone come and HELP me? I've been standing here FOREVER ! Why? Maybe they're helping another customer, on a potty break, or their shift is over. However you GOT there---feet, broom, or roller skates---move your a** and go ASK someone for help! 4. Why are they nasty...rude...have this ATTITUDE? How did YOU first come across? Were you friendly? Or were you copping an attitude yourself? Were you angry, condescending, demanding, insulting? Salespeople want to keep their jobs and sell products, so it's very unlikely they'd do or say anything to antagonize a customer. 5. Why are they so sugary-nice? They don't fool me---I know PHONY. I doubt it. You're the very type of person who DOESN'T because you can't be sincere yourself, so you assume that everyone is like you. This may call for a doctor's visit and some helpful meds. 6. What's the point of their giving me their business card? They hardly did ANYTHING for me. Because, if you liked what they DID do for you, have the courtesy/decency to ask for them if you call or revisit. This is especially true in vehicle, TV, furniture, major appliances, computers, handhelds, and real estate. If they're not there, some businesses will have split commissions, or sales credits. That's what thougtful customers with common sense will do. Hint Hint: Chances are, that salesperson will go beyond what's necessary if someone is considerate enough to ask for them. 7. They're too pushy...aggressive...I HATE that ! As well you should. Can't imagine it, but if that happens, I'd ask to see a manager. Of course, wearing that dunce cap, you might be misinterpreting. . The salesperson I spoke of earlier was so sweet. I couldn't help but ask her how customers behaved. She said that most are very nice. What about the others, I asked. She said some can be so demanding and expect answers to every question imaginable. That she goes home and studies magazines, the internet, and other publications just to try to keep on top of everything she possibly can---that it's never-ending. This is all UNPAID on her OWN TIME. SHE WAS NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. She began, "You know how much money I make?" I stopped her from telling me and just gave her a hug. She hugged me back. .
