| - I stayed at Gold Spike for two nights. I found it to be clean, well cared for, and comfortable. This hotel is bare bones. No in room phone, no refrigerator, no extras. No room service, vending machines, or ice machine. This is Las Vegas, who stays in the room anyway? Fremont Street is a block away and it's easy to walk there.
This hotel is popular with kids in their early 20's. The courtyard if filled with drinking games and a stage for live bands. During a live band event, security is on top of any problem, empty cups and bottles are picked up rapidly. The area remains clean and safe.
If you are considering staying at Oasis at Gold Spike, be aware that there are two areas. Oasis is a 60's style motel and away from the noise of Gold Spike's nightclub and patio. If you want quiet, ask to stay in Oasis.
If you stay in Gold Spike, it will be LOUD. The music in the courtyard will be loud and it will continue all night. If noise bothers you, don't even consider Gold Spike.
I really like these hotels, but I would not want to stay at Gold Spike the day before a business meeting.
