TL;DR: If you wanna look hella cute, go to Maddy for a haircut cuz she's the bomb dot com ! and check in at yelp to get 10% (if they're still doing the promo by the time yall read this)
I've recklessly dyed my har a plethora of colors when I was younger and was in a desperate need to chop all of that off without judgment that I've gotten in a lot of previous salons. And after scrolling through recommended lists and such, I landed on a gem, which of course is Lola. I can honestly say they left me extremely happy and put my salon search to an end.
I'm a student balling on a budget and I was happy to see that they do student cuts! So around $40 (before tax and tip) for shampoo conditioner massage cut and styling? sign me up.
I was really pleased with my first experience at Lola, they were super friendly (despite me looking like a lost puppy trying to find my way there that I had to call the receptionist - who was also super helpful). The atmosphere is really welcoming from the cool chairs to the neon sign to the brick walls, its almost as if the whole place is easily instagrammable. The salon was bustling with other clients getting their hair done and everyone seemed busy (i understand why now) but I was still greeted.
The online booking system is really user-friendly and I easily booked an appointment with Maddy a couple days prior to the date. After sitting me down and taking my coat (which is nice ya know) we started to discuss what kind of cut I wanted to get. She was really open to my ideas and cut my hair twice (when I decided I wanted it shorter) so it's really great that you get that open communication and it's not like a super bougie condescending vibe that a lot of other salons give off where they shut you up and never let you speak lol. She was really gentle in handling my hair and recommending me what would look best with my hair type, while still keeping true to what I wanted in the first place. She washed my hair and threw in a little massage which was an added bonus. When she began cutting my hair, she would often check back with me to see if I liked the length so far, even offering to cut it shorter even after we were almost finished with that stage. It just goes to show how considerate the people here are and you're not just "another client coming in". After she styled my hair in subtle waves/curls and I fell in love with my haircut even more. The whole vibe is really welcoming and chill so I didn't feel awkward sitting in the chair just staring at myself for a bit hahaha.
I left the salon grinning from ear to ear and feeling like a total bad b*tch (its crazy what a haircut can do ya know) and it was great knowing that next time I need a haircut I won't have to scavenge yelp again. Thank you so much, Maddy, you made my day!
