I booked this hotel online days in advance requesting a non smoking room. I get to my room in the basement ,which is two flights of stairs and not easy with luggage, and tried opening the door with both the keycards I was given and neither of them worked. I was about to go back up those two flights of stairs with luggage in tow and let them know the cards were useless when an employee for the hotel ,who looked like a handyman, came up to me and asked if I was having trouble getting in the room and I said "yes, the cards won't work". Apparently he had his own card to gain access to any of the rooms and gave me his.
I thought "well this isn't good, who else can gain entry into the room whenever they want?" It was very unnerving to say the least. When I opened the door and walked in I knew immediately that I wasn't going to be staying there. Everything was dirty and it smelled like someone had just finished smoking a cigarette. I enter the bathroom and there was an actual used cigarette in the trash. Great.
I got a refund and searched elsewhere for my stay.
