| - Compared to the others, this is a GREAT Phoenix venue in so many ways! Saw Peter Hook there (AWESOME SHOW!). I arranged a couple months prior for Premium Seating for 3 of us (not available online - HIGHLY recommended):
Called and spoke with Sarah S., who was SUPER friendly and explained to me about the Premium Seating. The price was, IMHO, VERY affordable - especially when you consider that this option gives you Mezzanine seating with a perfect, unobstructed view of the entire stage, a Parking Pass, and IMPECCABLE table service!
Everyone who works there seemed truly happy - not fake "have to be happy" - which gives off a very good vibe while getting seated. The decor inside was super clean - not "dive bar chic" like other venues in Phoenix. The bathrooms were SPOTLESS (seriously - never been to a concert where I didn't feel I needed to bathe in Purell when I got home). The long old-fashioned wooden bar was a very classy touch; bartenders were quick and I never saw anyone wait for drinks more than a minute. Prices for food and drink are normally high, but competitive with other venues; we tried a few different food items: Our consensus... "Yummy!"
The acoustics at The Van Buren were superb. Was nervous when we saw the "utilitarian" ceiling, but it works, and works well. Walked around to different areas, and the sound was still great, so it is not a matter of being in the "sweet spot".
Summary: I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants a 1st Class show to arrange Premium Seating at The Van Buren. Makes going to a concert more than just standing in a crowd, struggling to see a band playing, but a truly memorable experience.
