| - The only place to book for your outdoor kayaking needs. Seriously, this group of people are the best. Regardless of your expertise with kayaking, this place will accommodate any age and level of experience. We had a lady who was 80+ and she was the MVP of our whole group.
My husband and I wanted to be able to Kayak at the base of the Hoover Dam and Evolution Expeditions (EE) had the permit required for us to accomplish this "bucket-list" of ours. EE offers courtesy pick-up, even off the strip. We were picked up at 5:25 AM and driven to the Hoover Dam base. There we met Anthony, our amazing, adventurous tour guide. After we unloaded all the coolers (filled with snacks, water, and our lunch (provided in costs)) we set off to embark on a 12 mile adventure. The 10 mile kayak is broken up into different miles so you are not kayaking 12 miles non-stop. Our trip was broken up by mile 2, mile 4, mile 9, and mile 12 for the finish, Our first stop was at a sauna cave (really hot and humid). I never thought I would be so excited to get back in the 56 F water (yes it is really that cold), but after the sauna, the water felt great. The second stop at mile 4 was for the Arizona hot springs and outhouse break (if you don't feel like peeing in the frigid water). We ate snacks before we set out on our short hike to the springs ( fig bars, Kashi bars, trail mix, and Nature Valley were some of the delicious snacks and we never ate them all (group of 8 of us). Anthony's knowledge of wild life, from marine life to foliage to animals was abundant and my husband and I learned a lot on this trip. Anthony had a way of engaging our group without making us feel like we were in school. We went another 5 miles and then had lunch, courtesy of Jason's Deli. The sandwiches were still great and not soggy after being in the coolers for that long. Our last trek of the journey were the Emerald Caves, which was 1 mile after our lunch spot. We all could fit our kayaks in the cave and the water from inside the cave looked a bright green. After this spot, it was a race to the finish; last one had to buy beer for all of us (just kidding). We ended our journey 30 minutes behind schedule (just an FYI in case you are planning something right afterwards- I'd suggest booking something near 5 PM or after). We got home close to 4 PM and we finished at 2:30 PM.
Animals along the way that you can see - horned sheep, birds (eagles, etc), and a striped bass in the water.
If there is anything to take away from this- book with the enthusiastic group at EE. You will not regret it.
