| - Our house painting in Mesa, AZ was completed about a week ago. Overall I have no complaints about the final product. Estimate, start and completion dates, attention to detail, application process, quality of work, cleanup, and other details met my expectations.
The reason for the less than favorable review is that, had I not been on site and paid attention, the wrong paint would have been used. I specified a brand and a particular type within that brand and this was all detailed on the estimate/contract. When the painter returned from purchasing the paint I noted that it was the right brand, but a less costly version than I had specified. When I called the AZ Painting office they quickly instructed the painter to replace it with the right paint and he did so.
The explanation I received was that the paint supplier gave him the wrong paint even though he gave them the instructions that specified the proper grade of paint and that he did not know it was the wrong paint. If this is so, it does not speak well to the painter's professionalism and attention to detail, as we had reviewed the contract together and the lower quality paint can labels did not look remotely like what was specified. This obviously did not leave me with positive feelings for this company and I wavered between two and three stars, but, as I noted, the final result was satisfactory.
As with any costly project, make sure the estimate is detailed and specific, be on site whenever possible, observe what is done, ask questions and point out any problems.
