  • I was in the area one night and I decided to make a short stop at Nadège. It was not a hard decision considering I've heard many great things about this bakery and its macarons. More importantly, I was told they offer matcha-flavoured macarons! Mmm... I was pleasantly surprised by the simple, modern decor which brought me back to that time I visited Pierre Hermé in Paris. The moment I stepped up to the counter to admire all the different pastries, I was greeted with a friendly smile. Nadège offers mostly classic macaron flavours, but there were a couple more interesting flavours. I ordered a dozen, which included: salted caramel, matcha green tea, chocolate, cappuccino, vanilla, and cotton candy. (Other flavours available were mojito, cassis, blackberry, and pistachio.) I never say no to salted caramel, but my favourites at Nadège were matcha green tea and cotton candy. The other flavours tasted as expected, nothing too special, and I thought the cappuccino flavour tasted very much like a Nestlé Coffee Crisp chocolate bar. By the time I got home, this box of macarons was devoured in no time..! My boyfriend does not have a sweet tooth like I do, but he LOVED the matcha green tea macaron. We had plans to dine in the same area that weekend, so I made my second trip to Nadége because he wanted to get more matcha green tea macarons. So...we got another dozen to go, and we got to try mojito and cassis. I really liked the mojito flavour, and cassis was all right. This time around, I asked for a travel box, which comes with a protective sleeve, for $1 extra because I noticed some of the macarons from my first visit were cracked by the time I reached home. The travel box is a lot easier to carry around, too. We also picked up a butter croissant and pain au chocolat, and they were not bad. But it was not as buttery and flaky as I had hoped because they were not hot-out-of-the-oven fresh (or even warm) as the ones we devoured every morning we were in Paris! Mmm...to have fresh baguettes and pastries again... Every. Single. Morning.
