| - This review is for the Grooming Department.
1. Jen, the grooming manager is amazing at her job. Petco does an "inspection" of the animal, which makes sense... but other locations try to do it way too fast and are going to get hurt manhandling dogs like that. I get really anxious any time I can't make it to this location, but Jen has a way with animals that lets me drop my pup off with no worries. I've had the same experience with all of her staff.
2. Again, I typically work with Jen and I can trust everything she says. I try to make friends anywhere that is a "regular spot" for me, as being able to trust someone saves me so much time and money it's redonkulous. If her or her staff say my dog needs something extra, I'll say go ahead. Any other location will get a "I'll call you back" while I look into it. I know petco pushes sales, but my trust in this location will get way more money than any sales tricks.
3. Again, very upfront and all understand their jobs. My dog was never a big fan, but would deal with it until they got to his nails. They either worked together to distract him while his nails were clipped, used a different method, etc. I've gotten him back from other locations who just said "he wouldn't let us touch his feet", and that's that.
Thanks to Jen and her honest staff, and again back to my trust in her team, I brought it up with the vet. She tried to trim his nails and got the same response, so she prescribed medicine to calm him when getting groomed. That lowered his stress and made a safer situation for everyone.
Jen needs to be a district manager for grooming. Her style is one many could learn from.
Note to Petco: Please remove your fairy tale pictures from Yelp. As someone who travels often. I have not once seen a location that looks like that.
Also: Stop forcing people to schedule their next appointment. I'll do it so you don't jump down your employee's throats, but so far there has not been one time I've shown up. By the time I heard the voicemail reminder, the appointment had come and gone.
