  • With my recent love affair with blow-outs, I decided to try a new spot - closer to home. Came across this cute spot at Tivoli Village's The Market area and the price was right - only $35. Dollhouse takes online appointments, secured by a credit card but you can also just call in. I did and got a same day appointment! I arrived on time but there was only 1 stylist there and she was finishing up her prior appointment. We got started about 10 mins later - no biggie. The shampoo & conditioning was great - quality product line called - Caviar. She gets started on my "blow-out" with some mousse, brushing and I start to look around. Things are pretty "dusty" - the framed mirror, ottoman, and even the fabric chair I I'd just waited in. The floor was dirty, not just hair but black marks, the shampoo chairs and stylist chairs all needed a good wipe down. Decided to close my eyes and just enjoy the process when I noticed the the stylist was drying then stopping, drying then stopping. I look in the mirror to check it out and see she is partial drying the hair section then rolling and pinning in a curl. I did say I didn't want curls, I wanted my layers flipped. She says it helps to keep the style longer. I let her do her thing to see how it goes --I'm not going out this is just to save me a few days of not doing my hair for work. We finish up with head full of pin curls that are hair sprayed then blown a bit more to set. She starts right away to release from bottom up but the pieces at top she had just finished so they did not have much time to set. She separates and sprays some more. I have bouncy, curly layers. They are nice, yes, just not what I asked for. It's ok though because by the time I got home they were mostly loosened up. No volume on top and it doesn't feel at all like a smooth, blown-out style. Hopefully it lasts a few days but I probably won't be back for this type of "blow-out".
