  • Recently, we had a plumber come and check out our old leaking water softener. He explained that it would be better to replace than repair. So, he sent over a sales guy (Andy) to explain to us the low, medium and high end models of water softeners that they offer. It was a pretty pushy, "hard sell" on the part of the salesman. The price was so overblown that I immediately escorted him to the door on the advice of my spouse. It seemed borderline unethical. The salesman became visibly upset and gruff. He tossed his business card on the table instead of handing it to me like a gentleman should. He shoved his notes across the table at me and said to "make sure and show that to your spouse...I think this would have gone differently if he was here for this because I am not sure you understand the information." Excuse me? Just because I was the wife and not the husband...that means I don't understand? I understood completely and was not going to be "run over" by a pushy sales guy. I can see how that might intimidate others. (He also made a derogatory remark about our living situation. Um, offensive and none of his business.) We have had good dealings with them regarding our A/C in the past but the plumbing experience was a poor one.
