  • One of my favorite sayings that I live by to this day is "First Impressions Are Last". I was on Facebook one day when I saw a couple ex-coworkers post that they just attended Bikram Yoga for the first time and died. I thought to myself, COOL! I called my friend who has been wanting me to get into Yoga and she said she has attended those classes before. I told her to set us up for a session. So the day came for Yoga Apocalypse and we were going to attend the 5:30am session. 5:30am!? You heard that right, but my friend considered everything as it paid off when we left at 7am and it was so cold but so sweet and nice outside! Went from a 100 degree humidity room to 50 degrees outside! We were there at 5:15am and the cool part was that the doors were ready for us to walk in and the studio was filled up quickly soon after. There were some hotties in the class too, it's cliche but a proven fact just myth busted. :D So the temperature reaches at least 100 degrees and sits at where ever after that, I think our body-heat pushes the heat to another 5 degrees hotter. So bring a towel that you know will be soaked. I hydrated the day before like I was going to one of my football games, I was ready to tackle a warrior pose but all of that water retention disappears so fast. Bring water! At work I carry a one gallon container of water, at the gym I do the same, and at Yoga you'll definitely need to be drinking and hydrating yourself. You can rent or buy towels, clothes, or mats. I'd bring my own though. The class itself I believe was an intro class. You can tell the people attending all had different levels of experience. The experienced Yoga junkies moved on to the next move flawlessly. I was there and needed baby-steps to get the poses right. But these are the basics that you'll need to know for the intermediate/advanced per se classes down the line. Did I mention you'll be sweating a lot? If it wasn't for the heat I would say this beginner class is like playing in the playground. At one point, all I kept hearing was blah blah blah and I was just staring at my shirtless body thinking damnnn I should be at the gym instead right now so I can sculpt for Summer. I guess I gave the impression that I didn't know how to do the move and the teacher came over and corrected me since I was way off from everyone else. I guess there's some butterfly effect where my small riffle can cause a tsunami lol. A good position in front of the mirror is key, just like working out so you know you're doing the positions right. I swear that's all I used the mirrors for.. hehehe :D They do have showers in the locker-rooms but I did notice that some of the females left their purses on the floorboard of their cars. It's the law enforcement mind kicking in but those can easily be stolen if a robber were to wake up this early in the AM, thank goodness they always sleep-in this early. So in conclusion, my first impression of Yoga was hell. I'll never forget this as this was one of the hottest activity I've ever done while not wearing too many clothes but surrounded by hot chicks. One weeks session of the old P90X was way easier. But it was a good experience for me to have, I knew I could do it and not die! I actually use some of the movement positions as a stretch at the end of my workout. Good stuff. Survival checklist: **Yoga mat **1 gal of water **Towel *Dedication *No talking, no cell phones, no quitting! *Lock your purses or valuables in your trunk. Sweat everywhere Lots of people with barely any clothes on Some people walked out dizzy and nauseated, so hydrate the night or day before! Some times they offer free classes at the 3pm sessions, and they fill up quick.
