What a disaster this place was - I don't even know where to begin. So we decided to drive from Las Vegas to San Diego on Thanksgiving. After perusing online for good rates, we saw Thrifty Rent A Car was the best deal and we were hoping that since it was a holiday and most people travel with their large family's, that we would be able to get a great deal on a 2 seated sports car if we chose the "wild card deal". HUGE mistake. When we got to the counter they tried giving us a Fiat - a FIAT - for a 4.5 hour drive to San Diego. When we told the woman at the counter about our long trip, she said she would "upgrade" us to a better car and give us a couple "deals". So we happily accepted, thinking ANYTHING was better than a small Fiat. She showed us the car choices on her screen and any of the cars she showed us would have sufficed. As others have mentioned on here - she did try and force us MULTIPLE times to buy the upgraded insurance and the pre-paid fuel, but we absolutely declined those every time and it was a good thing because we filled up the tank of our car right across the street at the end of our trip and it was about $30 less than what they were going to make us pay. So we take our ticket down to where you retrieve your car and when we gave it to the woman in the garage, she was trying to make us choose from an assortment of small hatchbacks - NONE of which were on that screen upstairs. So of course my guy chimes in - telling them they did a bait and switch (which they pretty much did) and that we wanted the "upgraded car" we paid for and were promised upstairs. So after a very long wait and the woman in the garage talking it over with some of her fellow Thrifty garage workers, she "found us another car" and said it was the best she could do. So we were allowed to take and drive a Nissan Versa for our trip. Better than a Fiat or one of those sketchy hatchbacks, but certainly not what we were promised upstairs. At that point I just wanted to get on with our trip, but I can say with certainty I will never use Thrifty Rent A Car again. The price was much higher than advertised online (even though it said all fees and taxes were included when we booked it) and at every twist and turn they were trying to give us just the bare minimum that they could get away with. I really wish I would have read the Yelp reviews before booking the car!!!
