| - As mentioned in my last CT review, Canadian Tires all fall somewhere in the range of good to bad. This particular store is in the good range.
In general, it is quite neat and tidy. Merchandise is in stock. The store is laid out well and I don't think I've ever had to wait too long at the cash.
I can't comment on the staff--don't think I've ever needed to interact with anyone here. Wait. A nice girl helped me with the automated check out once.
Parking is pretty easy and is getting in and out of the store. The fact that you have to use that escalator for your cart is slightly weird but totally doable. I think a lot of the bigger items might be sold on the ground floor unless I'm remembering it wrong.
My last purchase involved the usual "stock up" supplies when I had a zip car and some extra time to use with it. I also bought some drinking glasses and one of them broke while in the dish washer*.
There are better CTs and far worse ones. I would rather shop here than WalMart and if I am in the area, with a zip car, I'll continue to pop in.
*But how do I feel about CT in general?
My feelings are mixed. I like the idea of supporting a Canadian owned chain. And I like that there is a lot of history with the store to Canada. I certainly feel a bit "Canadian" when I shop here and that is important to me. But at the end of day, it is all about the merchandise. LIke all of their competitors, it seems like all of their stuff is made in China. And much of it is of a fairly low quality. I've thinking of some oven mitts that wore out in a few years. Also, I don't think their prices are often terribly low. My biggest gripe is their general selling technique, often shared with others. They play this game of constantly putting things on sale. It makes you wonder what the real price is or if you are over paying when it is not on sale. They rely a lot on the flyer and that kind of advertising is expensive--and paid for by the customer. In general, it is an OK place to buy stuff, but in my mind it is best when you are young, poor and need to furnish a new apartment all at once. If you have the time/money/inclination you are often better off going to speciality stores for kitchen gear, bikes and other sporting gear or the supermarket for cases of pop. I have no idea if this is or isn't a good place for car stuff; I have chosen RONA for my BBQ. I'd go here for plastic bins or screwdrivers or a snow shovel.
