| - Let me begin by saying Blue Hound is a chic (my definition of an upscale but casual feel) restaurant. My friend and I went for the first time, and I appreciate how she searches for new places to check out and bookmarks them for us to try when I am in town. Both her and I are foodies, so I was super excited to try a place that I had not been to before (as I usually stay in the Scottsdale area when visiting). Upon arrival I could immediately tell, the food was going to be good. The owner(s) had an upscale design for the restaurant which generally transitions to an upscale menu , cocktails and food. I WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!! Christopher was our server for the evening and he was extremely professional, knew the menu very well, attentive and genuine about ensuring we had a good evening. Now to the food . . .
We ordered the deviled eggs to start which has a little bacon jam surprise when you bite into it, so so so good. We also ordered the pork ribs which were very flavorful with a crisp on the pork that anyone who loves pork appreciates, you must have it! I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered the blackened salmon. Let's start with my friend . . . She takes a bite of the salmon and closes her eyes like she just took a bite of heaven. Initially I was thinking, dang . . . I should've gotten the salmon . . . BUT let me say that the presentation of my entree made my saliva glands water and I was ready to dig in. TOUCHDOWN!!! I loved the shrimp and grits, but because I had inhaled the deviled eggs and the pork ribs, ordering comfort food / aka heavier food meant I couldn't eat as much as I wanted, but I kept eating until my stomach turned the "open my mouth" button off!!! The drinks . . . My friend ordered a tobacco smoked cocktail with a fabulous table side presentation (frozen glass, tobacco, the works), I'm thinking . . . Not my cup of tea but . . . She tasted it and again her eyes closed but this time supporting a "sip" of heaven. She asked me to try it, and this is a very sexy drink that both men and women will love if you like bourbons, whiskeys, scotches etc. (I don't recall which one it was) no taste of tobacco at all!! I stuck to my usual, wine and they have a very nice variety. This brings me to the end of a fabulous dinner, because we had negative room for dessert.
If you haven't guessed already . . . I would highly recommend the Blue Hound for any and every occasion. Thank you Christopher and the Blue Hound team for a great dining experience.
