I love the Westside Market. It's a beautiful and historic building in one of Cleveland's coolest neighborhoods - Ohio City. The inside food stalls all offer premium meats, cheeses, breaks, pastries, etc. The outside produce vendors can be a little bit trickier to navigate as far as quality and prices are concerned, but most are pretty good (if not pushy to get your business). You can easily come here and complete all your grocery shopping because they have everything (unless you have a knack for processed foods).
DEAL HUNTING:
Since the Market is closed on Sundays/Thursdays, Saturdays/Wednesdays are a great opportunity to negotiate on produce prices since they're trying to sell off some of the fruits and veggies that won't last until the next business day. Always tell them you want to select your own produce! I let a vendor do it for me before and she gave me old limes from the back that we're definitely not on par with the pretty new ones on showcase in the front. The only downside of the Market on Saturdays is that it's crazy busy, but that's all part of the ambiance I guess. I always take a walk down the produce corridor to scope out everyone's prices and quality before making any purchases because sometimes prices can vary a lot.
TOP PICKS:
Brothers Produce and Pork Chop Shop are two of my favorite vendors. Brothers offers better quality produce than the others, and Pork Chop Shop has the best thick-cut bacon ever!
