  • Let me say this first, I never have reviewed anything in my life, but for this place I need to warn you about this. I could not agree more. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I have been renting from various places for over 7 years. This place however takes the cake. Not helpful at all, does not respond on a timely matter, forget about the gross infestation of Cockroaches they refuse to pay for pest control, as they would say "is the responsibility of the tenant". Well if I had known prior to move in there was a pest control I would have never rented. My apartment issues started one month after occupying, noticing the cockroaches, the plumbing issues, and not once but twice having a water leak in my apartment (first time in my living room flooding half the room thank goodness my electrical units were not on the ground, second time in my closet bedroom, where mold happened and had to get rid of 10 pair shoes, my quilt, two bags of clothes, and a matching pair of suitcases). Here were some (of many) of my issues while renting from SJ Fowler Real Estate: 1.) The issue of the water leaks (not one, but two water leaks) - Because of the leak this caused mold in living room (there was discoloration from black, dark brown, etc. in the carpet). After multiple times of trying to schedule, they did not even have the leaked fix as it was still leaking through my carpet. Eventually the leaking did stop, at which point I do not know, and now I believe the carpet may be need to cleaned and/or thrown away completely. 2.) The issue of the Sliding door - I noticed during the summer that there were bees in my apartment, as well as different bugs (including the bees) in my apartment. After shutting off all my AC and electricity and upon my return there were 10-20 dead bees near my sliding door, this is when I noticed the sliding door was off the hinges. My sliding door easily pops off the hinges, as the sliding door tracks/hinges are located on the outside. This seems very dangerous, I noticed that even with the two locks set (up top and in the middle) it still is very manageable to pop off the hinges (very easy to break into = not very comforting). 3.) The issue of the Bugs (as I have already mentioned) - With every effort I have done to get rid of the bugs, cockroaches (around dime size in width) and tiny bugs (not sure if they are ants or something else) they still are manifesting in every corner of my apartment. My Kitchen is the worst and I do not leave food out, I was all my dishes once I'm done, and even Clorox everything as soon as I seem them on the counters. They are in my cupboards, dishwasher, oven, coming from out of the drain, drawers, underneath my sink, underneath the oven and refrigerator. I have used bug spray, cockroach traps, mothballs, Ridex wall plugs, etc. These bugs were not limited to my kitchen, but every room in my apartment, bedroom, bathroom, and living room. This has been an arising issues since I moved in, but I thought I could get rid of this issue on my own, and I have not been in the least bit successful. 4.) The issue of the Bathroom sink and toilet - I have mentioned this multiple times to the rental agency before, the underneath of the sink leaks all the time and managed to warp the wood underneath. The toilet on the other hand, this has been an ongoing issue, as this may just be a sewage problem in general, but it clogs constantly, the flushing is not very good, no pressure whatsoever and takes a good amount of time to refill (and when it does refill it is very minimal water). Not only did the maintenance man try to fix this, they had informed me that (when I called only twice about this, when it happened almost plumbing was an issue every day) it was my duty to fix and that I needed to pay $85 out of pocket for this issue. When I was not only told by one maintenance man/plumber, but by two different services that it is due to the pressure of the toilet itself, that is the reason it does not flush. It has overflowed many times, and I could not even use the restroom without having a plunger on stand by. 5.) The issue of the kitchen sink and dishwasher - The sink was constantly clogged, I bought many gallons of Drain-O (which was just a monthly expense I had to budget for and got way out of control). Not only that, I did not even used my Dishwasher since month 2 of moving as I was informed that I needed to fix this myself. If I had known all these issues would have been part of my daily struggle I would not have even considered living in such an awful state. The worst 12 months from any renter I have ever worked with.
