| - Went to the natural history museum last Saturday as it was rainy and we needed something to do. Our natural history museum is solid, but definitely not on par with the art museum nor natural history museums of other cities.
As for the collections, some I was impressed with, others not so much. For example, every NH museum has a bunch of Native American arrowheads and clothing. So that kind of stuff was just 'eh' for me. However, some of the dinosaur mountings were really impressive. A couple of them are really unique in the world. For example, there's one for which our mount is the most complete skeleton of its species (out of only 4 in the world) and the only one complete enough to mount. Pretty cool. Also liked some of the local stuff (Ohio ancient burial mounds, etc).
Ten dollar admission price is fine, but I expected a bit nicer exhibit areas, honestly. It would not cost much to update some of the placards on the display cases, etc. The whole place had a 1970's - 80's feel to it. Overall, wasn't overly impressed but the quality of the collection is solid and they do have some decent kid activity area.
Probably won't be back until I have a kiddo to cart around, but if you do, it's a good bet for a rainy day.
