| - Freemont Street is an experience worth having on a trip to Vegas.
I was taken there on my first visit, and I'm glad I was. It kinda feels like the result of The Circus having a baby with Reno. It's kinda cheap, kinda trashy, kinda dank... but still a good time. It is easier to find $5 tables than on the strip, booze is flowing left and right, and there's plenty of celebrity look-a-likes to take pictures with ("Tips are appreciated", they'll say).
All the casinos have an old, dingy feel to them, but it lends to the atmosphere. Nobody is really dressing up to go out, there's scantily clad dancers out front of most joints, and trashy people are being arrested for who-knows-what. I wouldn't bring my kids down there, but it is a fun experience.
If you want to dress up and have a classy night, go to the strip. If you want an evening of inexpensive debauchery or laid-back boozing, hit up Freemont Street.
