  • Montreal has several local roasters but few coffee shops with in-house roasting, which is what St. Henri micro-torrefacteur offers. They serve most extraction methods, though I can only comment on their espresso-based beverages. Their lattés are quite good, definitely on the creamier side with few high notes. Very round. They roast beans on-site, with two espresso varieties available (Godshot and Holy Cow, recommended for straight espresso and lattes respectively). Definitely a good place to buy beans, as most coffee you will find that is "locally-roasted" is roasted off-premise and distributed privately. Some reviewers have noted barista inconsistencies, but the lattés have been very consistent in my experience with several different baristas. Perhaps this is not the case for americanos, mochas, etc.
