| - I'm going to loan these guys an extra star with the gut feeling that they'll earn it anyway.
It's early on, the walls are mostly bare, it's spartan inside to be sure. The seating is somewhat limited, or at least was on their very popular opening night, and it could use a little more homey feel. But so what? That can come, in time, as they aren't even planning to be open full time until the spring. The nuances of the flow and feel of a taproom can come later. The fact is, these guys make cider.
And they make it pretty damn well.
We had flights and all together between the two flights tasted 8 of the 9 ciders they had to offer. All were fantastic, and really just depended on personal taste. The Pumpkin Pie was the fan favorite from what we tasted and the folks we talked to, but the coffee cider was crazy and I liked it, and the sort of standard that they had was so subtle and not at all overdone (if you need it as sweet as Angry Orchard or whatever, look elsewhere. That shit is apple juice compared to this).
I love that it wasn't overly sweet, I love that it was done with care and precision, and I think it's neat that a couple of brothers did this as a hobby after experiencing some rough times serving for us. Like I said, the space itself isn't quite there yet, but the product is and I think they'll figure the rest out as they develop.
