  • After driving up the New England coast and trying all the wonderful food it had to offer based on Travel + Leisure magazine as a guide, we have been craving that same wonderful taste ever since. So, we were excited to give East Coast Eats a try. We tried the Steak Bomb, Seafood Platter (whole bellied clams, haddock, shrimp and scallops) and Pasta and Meatballs for the little guy. We like to order a variety and both my husband and I share so that we get a taste of everything. First up is the Steak Bomb. Had to give it a try because of the great reviews and the pictures on Yelp. It certainly looked larger in the pictures than it really was (compared to Capriotti's Cheese Steaks). Taste wise it was okay with lots of meat and just the right amount of onions, peppers and cheese. The meat though was just a bit on the bland side. We both would've liked it seasoned more. The Seafood Platter was cooked (fried) to perfection. By this I mean that the pieces of haddock, scallops, clams and shrimp weren't overcooked and dried out but very tender and juicy. Scallops and shrimp were large in size (justifies the $25 price tag) and the haddock were in chunk size pieces. The platter came with cole slaw, fries, onion rings and tartar sauce. My only complaint is that the batter for the seafood could have used some seasoning. The way I see it, if you are going to coat food with a batter, you'd better season up the batter or not use any batter at all. Luckily once I got past that, I was able to taste the goodness of the shrimp, scallop and clams. Lastly, we ordered pasta and meatball for our 5 year old. We decided to go with linguine for the pasta and it came with 4 huge meatballs. And because he couldn't eat it all, we ate his leftovers and it was actually the best of the 3 dishes we tried. The sauce and meatballs were very tasty. I'm giving them 3 stars because the food was okay. It didn't give us that nostalgic being on the east coast feeling. When we left, both the hubby and I agreed that we were glad we gave them a try but it's not a place we'll be coming back to soon when there are so many other places to try. To their credit, the place was very clean, lots of different items on the menu and while we were there, they had a steady stream of people coming in.
