  • Melissa Canedy is the GODDESS of color and no one - I mean NO one - can top her cuts. I've got naturally curly hair. If you've got naturally curly hair, I don't need to say one word more: you know that particular little hell. If you don't, here's the newsflash: curly hair can't be cut like straight hair. It's not straight! Curly hair doesn't lay like straight hair and can't be layered like straight hair. I've spent a lifetime looking for a stylist who knew what the hell to do with my curls. I've been everywhere from the cheapo chain salons, to mom-and-pop salons, to big snooty Hollywood-wannabe salons, all over this country. Every place I've been has been a disaster and - up till I met Melissa - I've never had a cut that I didn't want to jump off a cliff afterwards. And I'm just talking about basic quarter-inch trims, nothing drastic. This spring my hair started falling out in clumps due to medication and I finally decided to just chop it all off. I'd probably have lived with it a whole lot longer if Melissa weren't my stylist, but I have the utmost confidence in her. I walked into her salon with pitifully straggly shoulder-length hair and strutted out looking like a 1920s flapper! I just had to tell her how short I wanted it and she did the rest. WOW! This cut is beyond my wildest expectations. My hair is a very dark brown but I've always wanted to be a redhead. Remember all those aforementioned salons? They all hemmed and hawed and acted like they had no idea what to do. Probably because they didn't. One of them insisted she had to strip my hair and bleach it first. That was interesting. One of them told me my hair was too dark to go red. Even though I brought in multiple pictures of PRECISELY what color I wanted my hair (think Nicole Kidman) none of them seemed to be able to accomplish it; they always ended up making my hair vaguely red so you could barely tell the difference, or some shade of burgundy. (??) Not so with Melissa. I brought in one magazine picture and she just nodded and got to work mixing. I left her capable hands with hair exactly the color I'd always envisioned. People are utterly shocked when I tell them it's not the color I was born with and some just won't believe it at all. It's THAT good. Go see Melissa Canedy at Canvas Salon. She's worth every last penny and I guarantee you'll never regret it.
