| - I have lived in this building for almost seven months now. It is not my first nor last apartment. I chose these apartments because the man I had talked to had amazing customer service and was direct and helpful. The apartments has a great location next to ASU and fair pricing. I wish the attitude of the gentleman I had first talked to was a prevalent one when it comes for the rest of the office staff. Most are non-confrontational and so therefore are not direct and love nothing more than to give you the run around, treat your concerns as exaggerations (while pretending to care..as if a person can't tell), and try hard to brush you off.
Positive aspects of the apartment itself is the multiple pools. The one by the front office is very nice with propane grills, ping pong table, and fitness center open 24 hours. The maintenance crew are generally friendly and dedicated. Nice mix of people; Families, students, all are welcome. Electric bill is not bad, and one bedrooms are utilities included. Also free cookies during office hours, which my kids loved, and its nice to get something out of turning in rent!
Negative aspects, which unfortunately are more than positive. Old outdated fixtures, noise from frat behind Dutch Bros and foot traffic at night. Maintenance is a small team given a heavy load so the little maintenance issues you may have will get pushed off to the side. You have to keep checking on it, and annoying the staff so that something will eventually get done (I hate doing that. It would be easier if they just told you it could be a few days and then let you know where your at on their to do list, but that would take effort and communication).
I had a situation where someone stole something off my boyfriends vehicle and I didn't handle it like I should have. After filing the police report I told the officer there are cameras at the apartments and they could look to see if anything was on it that could be helpful, and if so I would have the officers look into it more. I called the office asking for them to do this and they said they would. They didn't. I called back, and the girl explained she notified security to do more rounds, and as for the footage, apparently " its dark at night...so you usually can't see any faces on the camera anyway...so its not that helpful." I asked if anyone had actually looked at the footage because there could have still been something insightful. she said sure she would ask...she didn't. And no one got back to me. It was all pitiful. It's my fault for not making sure the cops handled those details, but it's rude for the personnel to lie to me about the situation hoping I would go away. I would have taken an explanation as to why they refused to look into, other than...well...it's dark at night. What? It's most upsetting because I talked to a woman in the fitness center who said she was working out in the fitness room at midnight and the next day she went into the office to be congratulated by office staff on how she was really getting it in the night before. We can watch hot chicks in the fitness room, but not property being stolen? Guess the lighting is better.
I have heard of my neighbors complain about bed bugs and roaches. I am grateful it hasn't been me. All in all, I have had way better experiences at other apartments, and do not believe I will be renewing my lease no matter how close to my classes I may be.
