| - Oh my goodness. I honestly don't know where to start.
I cancelled my membership at Mountainside Fitness, looking for something with less amenities to cut back on monthly gym costs. I came here looking for information on joining and immediately was turned off.
We walk in and the dude at the desk just stares at us. No "how are you" or "what can I help you with". So, I awkwardly start the conversation with "we were possibly interested in joining". He screams someone's name, who comes running. The man who came running to our side, Willie was the General Manager of the gym. He shook our hands and asked how he could help. We explained that we may be interested in signing up. Instead of giving us a tour of the gym, he sat us right down to sign us up. It was weird. Why sign us up for something we have no idea about? So, half way into the pushy sales pitch, I asked him to look around and he got extremely defensive. Rude and standoff-ish and I could tell he was annoyed that he had to show us around. The tour was half assed and taking the tour, I noticed the equipment must have been a good 10 years old and the lighting was horrible. It was like lifting weights in the dark. It looked fairly clean but the gym wasn't busy at all and I know why -- this gym is trash. I immediately told Willie that I would take his card and if I were interested, I'd give him a call. We walked out and immediately I threw his card in the trash.
Not only was Willie extremely unprofessional, pushy and the gym was absolute garbage but the three other guys working the sales desks were playing games on their phones with headphones in. Are you working or are you at a Starbucks relaxing on a day off? Like.. what do you even do here?
With all the hype surrounding LA Fitness gyms, I expected more but oh my god is this place absolute garbage. We quickly drove over to the brand new state of the art EOS Fitness on Higley and signed up for TWICE the amenities at half the price.
LA Fitness should be ashamed of presenting themselves like this.
