As a new owner of a mini poodle, I had visited a few vets in the area for various purposes (Cabbagetown Pet Clinic when few first got him, Toronto Central Animal Clinic to get him neutered, etc. I was disappointed with the prices at each, but particularly with the lack of communication: as a new dog owner, I knew almost nothing about my pup's health.
Dr Oscar is the only vet who consistently communicates what he's doing, including his different hypothesis about what the issue could be, and what he will do if Plan A doesn't solve the problem. He talks about costs of different options upfront, unlike the first vets I visited who let their administrative staff handle the bill after the vet left the room.
I've temporarily relocated to the US for a year, and while we found a nice vet here, I'm finding the lack of communication so disappointing compared to Dr Oscar. I couldn't recommend him and the Sherbourne Animal Hospital more glowingly.
