  • What the heck are Corus Entertainment producers thinking ? The recent program shuffle, particularly the new assignment of Matt Gurney & Supriya D in place of the highly respected John Oakley is just not earning listener stripes. OK, they're young and less experienced compared to the City's broadcast veterans. However they have very big shoes to fill and they're falling very short. Their commentary lacks substance and the controversy which morning shows thrive on. Matt & Supriya are simply bland, to the extent of the show coming across as a lecture similar to a Ted Talks. When they do have guests, the narrative misses on delivery and punch, heck they can't even close the conversation properly. Corus should have opened their salary budget and recruited an established well known personality known from another market into the City's most popular morning show. Rather, they recruit some entry level hosts in an attempt to do better for less (salary). I'm certain if they had recruited a host to the likes of an Elvis Duran or Preston & Steve- AM640 would maintain their ratings position in Toronto. Unfortunately the bean counters or producers seem to think they can throw anyone in the morning show chair and dictate a reduced level of morning radio entertainment standards to its listeners. Bottom line, the new morning show with Matt & Supriya is boring, and I assure you many former AM640 listeners are either still in denial by constantly switching channels back and forth, or are starting to give up on the show entirely by not tuning in. I give AM640 a timeline no further than June 2017 before they throw in the towel and initiate a recovery plan.
