Alright guys. This restaurant is a Must for locals from Hawaii. This restaurant is located on the second floor of the California Hotel and has so much island favorites.
Their menu includes bentos and combo plates for such a good price. We ate here twice; once on Monday night for dinner and again on Tuesday morning for breakfast. On Monday night, we ordered the garlic chicken with brown gravy and the mixed plate, which consisted of teri steak, chicken, and mahi.
The garlic chicken with brown gravy was so delicious--so much so that my friend couldn't wait to eat it when it arrived to our table. Unfortunately I wasn't able to snap a picture. The brown gravy though stole the show. Reminded me of a pork cutlet type of gravy; so rich and flavorful.
The mixed plate on the other hand had the three meats: beef, chicken and fish. The teri beef and chicken both had a glaze of teri sauce while the mahi had a spread of tartar sauce. On the side was a scoop of mac salad. The teriyaki glaze tasted so delicious. The mahi was also tasty and with all of the flavors together, it all worked together in perfect unison.
On Tuesday morning we ordered beef stew and the saimin. The beef stew coupled with the mac salad really brought me back to my mom's home cooking. My friend loved his saimin and I did too! The broth definitely made the dish for that's where all the flavor came from.
Whenever I'm in Vegas I'll always visit this restaurant at least once. It reminds me of home and the food is delicious. If you want a taste of the islands definitely give this place a shot.
