| - I stopped in here recently with my two kids for a treat. There was a variety of things for sale--cupcakes, brownies, truffles, cookies, and bagged treats as well. The displays were creative and appealing. There were even warm chocolate chip cookies on a warming plate, very appealing for a chilly winter day.
After much contemplation, my kids went with chocolate-covered mint oreos and a giant homemade marshmallow covered in chocolate and decorated to look like Spongebob. Not what I would have selected, but that's what my kids went for. I did not taste the marshmallow, but it was very cute and my son gobbled it up. My daughter loves mint chocolate, so the Oreos went over well and they were very good (she actually let me have a bite).
I chose a chocolate covered strawberry cupcake. I am one of those people who prioritizes the cake part over the icing part. I found, like the other reviewers, the cake was very dry. The real strawberry filling was delicious, however. It was not overly sweet and it was obviously made from real berries and not flavored syrup. The frosting was tall and visually appealing, but overall, I found it very rich and really just too much to enjoy. Another thing that I did not like was the packaging. All three items were placed into a bad the size of a brown lunch bag, but my cupcake was not separated into a container. When we got home, the frosting was all over the other items for my kids.
Next time, I would ask for them to be packaged separately. A pro of this bakery is the easy parking across the street in the Aspinwall Municipal lot, where you can get 30 minutes of parking for a quarter.
