| - Attention Toronto Bird Owners! I just found the perfect vet!
My darling bird got into a scrap with my other bird, and I had to take her to the VEC Sunday evening, then had to do a follow up with my regular vet today (Monday). I usually go to High Park, which I don't love, but heard about this vet and decided to give them a try.
They were able to squeeze me in last minute (as we needed an appointment to get my bird on her antibiotic medicine that the VEC was not able to give us). We saw Dr Luckwaldt and he was amazing!
The vet itself is lovely, clean, and the staff are all very nice and caring. It was obvious they had experience working with birds before which was great! Dr. Luckwaldt himself has had a lot of experience in avian medicine (20+ years) and also has experience working with raptors, so I know my little birdie was no problem for him!
He was able to check her stitches, clean them up, and informed me of all the things that could go wrong, and also informed me of things that are going well (in regards to her injury). What I liked most is that he didn't treat me like an ignorant bird owner (which is nice, since I look really young, I get that a lot even though I devote a lot of my life to avian care).
Dr. Munn also popped in to say hello and told me he also had a Quaker parrot (although his was a lot nastier than mine, lol).
It was great cost-wise also, as I paid an arm and a leg at the VEC and they said they would treat this as a follow-up appointment which saved me a LOT of money. They also said they woud remove my stitches for free, which is something HP would NOT do (they charged me $50 to just come in and look at blood results!).
So yeah, great experience and highly recommend them as THE avian vet.
