  • I have been to saucemans before, but years ago. I didn't remember why I didn't come back. But if it was like tonight I know now. We came on a Thursday at 6 pm. Only a couple other people there. First they were out of brisket. So we got the half chicken and chopped pork. First the good part. The sides were great. Fried green tomatoes, baked beans, onion rings, slaw, and hush puppies. All seemed fresh and were quite good. BUT... The chicken was very dry, including the dark meat, and the pork was dry no matter how much sauce you added. When leaving I noticed there was no exhaust coming from the building. If this wasn't yesterday's, or even Tuesdays left overs I would be surprised. Just today a local news source listed saucemans as number two in Charlotte. Maybe I need to try at a busy time.
