| - It was well past time so I decided to take a break from my usual haunts and check out a few of the new breweries. I had heard good things about Sugar Creek and I'm still amazed that I have become a local beer snob. I'm not insufferable about it but given the choice between something local and nothing from the big guys, I'd rather go local.
The location near South Tryon should be called Charlotte's Beer Mile because from there, you can wander north to all the other breweries and not venture too far off Tryon.
Like all of the other places, they have a nice shady patio spot to sit and enjoy with your dog. Inside though is something special. You see, unlike the other local haunts that allow you to bring your dog, pet bunny or snake on a leash, Sugar Creek is off limits because they serve food. So their tap room is more like a well-appointed bar instead of the usual loud environment colored with the sounds of dogs, bunnies, and snakes.
In fact, their tap room is so nice that it should be top billing for those planning events.
Now, even though I'm an insufferable local beer snob, my tastes are more specific (read I'm a picky eater). Their Raspberry beer though was off the charts for me. It's one that, if they allowed me to carry it home in a growler, I would quickly exhaust my bank account to ensure I had a steady supply. It's that good. For guys that like their beer more like 10-W40, I don't know what to tell ya.
The food is good, with chicken and grilled cheese. I had a chicken sandwich that was pretty good (sorry- forgot which after a few of the raspberry beers).
I promise for the sake of this Yelp review, I will return to Sugar Creek, take a picture of my food and then consume another few raspberry beers. It's for the good of all mankind.
