| - I once tried Curry Zen (when it first opened) and was thoroughly unimpressed. So unimpressed that I forgot I had been here already! This is no surprise because I'm notoriously anti-fried food and need greens with every meal. However, after visiting Japan this summer I am all about the curry and kushiage life now.
SERVICE & LOCATION
Quick and friendly service, as with any respectable Japanese curry place. I would be annoyed if they were fancy and asked me about my day! Just tryin' to shovel some spice level 5 in without small talk. The venue itself is pretty plain and unassuming, and a tad bit cramped. Being located in one of the busiest plazas in Vegas makes parking a headache during peak hours.
FOOD
Ahh, the star of the show is of course their curry. Fragrant, filling, and can be made to an obnoxiously spicy level. (They charge you above level 2, I think). You can customize it with toppings or choose from premade sets. I personally like vegetable curry with potato croquette! (I heard you liked carbs, so we took carbs, wrapped it in carbs... deep fried!)
Chicken kushiage is kind of dry but the zucchini is delicious. Oh, and the side salad is somehow super addicting.
This place is perfect if you're really hungry (huge portions). If you have a small appetite, like my mother, you can totally split a plate with some other weenie.
