  • Hear me out. I was an 80s kid who grew up in malls and mega malls and roamed them long into the 90s too. Over the past decade or so, I've developed a fascination with dead malls and greyfield land. I find it spooky, eerie, and sadly beautiful. Century III Mall is an amazing example of this and I have to give it three stars based on that alone. From the moment I stepped into the past at their sad and dying JC Penney store, I knew I was in for quite an experience. I took so many photos and I honestly value this experience that I had much more than might seem reasonable. Because I am not from the area, I don't remember this particular mall in its thriving years. My husband last visited Century III in 2005 when it was already beginning to decline, but still booming by comparison. The food court is closed and the entire top floor is no longer accessible. It seems to be in relatively decent condition as a building, maybe some leaks and creaky corridors, but on the whole it seems to be sound. Everything looks very dated and certainly abandoned. There are a very small handful of stores still operating on the time of my writing, such as Dick's Sporting Goods and Bath & Body Works.
