This last week my good friends and I ate at Paymon's and everything was just right!! The food was terrific, and the Ice tea and baklava were to die for.
What made this experience perfect was our server David T. His knowledge about the food and its origins impressed everyone on the table. (At one point we thought he was making half the stuff up, but we looked it up on my I phone and he was right on the money.)
We asked him a simple question of where does baklava come from. We expected a simple answer like Greece or the Middle East, however the answer we got impressed us all. He started the answer by saying "the history of baklava is not very well documented, and it has been claimed by many ethnic groups, but there is strong evidence that is of Central Asian Turkic origin." Central Asian Turkic origin!!! Who the hell talks like that! He then talked about the Ottoman Empire, ancient Mesopotamia and an old Chinese cookbook. Needless to say we ordered two of them.
I am not sure if it is part of the training process to give answers like this or if he is just a student at the close by UNLV who likes to do research on things. Whatever the case might be, Bravo!!!
