| - I went with 2 other friends to give the famed Taiwanese shaved ice dessert a go.
The place is clean and brightly-lit and the decor is very comfortable and inviting with a mix of standard tables and some booths that are a little more cozy.
Service is quick and efficient because once they start putting together your shaved ice dish, it begins to melt at the same time. So eat fast and chat later! LOL.
We order 3 different dishes from their shaved iced series:
1. mango mango shaved ice: mango pieces, mango jelly, mango syrup, mango ice cream, and yogurt shaved ice
2. taro shaved iced: grass jelly, soft taro pieces, tapioca, brown sugar ice cream, and yogurt shaved ice
3. red bean green tea shaved ice: sweet red bean, tapioca, syrup, and green tea shaved ice creamy frappe
From the dishes above, here are my take-aways:
a. the green tea shaved ice creamy frappe dish was def the hit of the 3 has the flavour was part of the shaved ice. It wasn't too sweet and tasted really nice with the tapioca. Recommend that you choose from the creamy frappe side of the menu.
b. the portions are really large and so it is recommended that you order one shaved ice to share between two people. Sharing is caring! :-)
c. the mango pieces and mango jelly were very soft and sweet.
d. the taro dessert had different kinds of texture with the chewy taro pieces and slightly bitter grass jelly but it lacked any real punch though. I almost found it bland because there wasn't enough taro flavour in it.
e. finally, the menu is quite substantive so I would definitely visit again to try their hot grass jelly or hot tofu series of desserts.
