Ri Ra is a fun spot to hang out with pretty good food as well. As I started my reuben adventure around Charlotte to find the best one the city had to offer, I couldn't think of a better spot to begin. I wasn't disappointed - it's funny how sometimes the first can be one of the best on a journey.
The corned beef on the reuben at Ri Ra still stands out as either the best or at least in the top 3 of the about 30 reubens I've tried so far around the city. The best way to describe it is tender, hand carved meat off a well braised chunk of real corned beef - none of that deli meat stuff. It's beer braised and the flavor is just incredible. The rest of the reuben almost isn't worth talking about after that, but I'll keep going anyway.
The cheese was good, but there wasn't enough to really come through the other ingredients. The kraut was clearly made in house and pretty good, and the bead was above average rye with a perfect crisp. If the proportions had been better this likely would have been the top reuben on the adventure. Ri Ra has an excellent reuben on their menu and it's absolutely worth stopping in to try it.
