I used to shop this Walgreen's often when it first opened. However insurance rules and hence I'm ousted out of here for my prescription plan.
Walgreen's is your typical pharmacy and local goods store conveniently located at the corner of Linden and Steuben St in Crafton. The staff is very nice. They offer discounts and reward perks if you have their card but expect to pay more than you would at any grocery store.
I came here with a girlfriend who does carry their prescription benefits after learning about a new shingles vaccination for people over the age of 50. I already had mine done a while back. The pharmacist was very helpful and explained that the one I received is slowly being phased out.
The new vaccine is called Shingrix and is given in a series of two injections spaced apart. She explained to us that this new vaccine is supposed to be more effective than Zostravax which is normally given for people over 60. She also said that if you had been given Zostravax then having this new strain would not harm you in any way but would be beneficial.
My recommendation is always check with your doctor to make sure if this new vaccine is needed and if your plan covers it because it is a pricey medicine. My girlfriend was grateful to learn about this vaccine since she had a coworker recently acquire shingles and has to be off work until she recovers. She was also glad she didn't have to wait until age 60. She was able to get her first injection while I waited and she will return in two months for her booster.
I'm very glad to obtain this information as I can relay it to my PCP to determine whether or not it is in my best interest having already had Zostravax vaccine.
This store is laid out well and is easy to find most everything. If this is your pharmacy then they can pull up your records at any Walgreen's if you are in need of medications.
