| - This place is almost perfect. 9.5/10, I'd 100% come here again.
My family and I stayed here for a 10 day vacation. I arrived with no expectations, and I was just about blown away. I have a very high standard of excellence when it comes to resorts and spas, and the Marriott complex here (Canyon Villas & the JW Marriott across the road) checked all of my boxes, except for the private pool ... but we can't have it all, all of the time ;)
While here, I used: the Marriott shuttle service, all 3 pools in Canyon Villas, the Canyon Villa pool cabana, the JW Spa, the JW yoga class + private session, the JW Spa pool & restaurant, the JW Spa ladies locker area, the JW Starbucks & restaurants, the walking paths around the Canyon Villas & JW, the tennis club at the JW, and the concierge folks at Canyon Villas. I left the Marriott complex for a few meals, to go to a local museum, and to see a movie, and that's it!
The Canyon Villas (CV) are kept clean, fresh, and very tidy. Our room is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom amenities could use some updating, but they were clean and not even remotely gross. We had a 2 bedroom villa, and it was spacious and useful. We loved the big dining table, the in-room w/d, and spacious kitchen counter. The closets were a useful size. The living room furniture is pretty comfortable and not gross. My bedroom in the villa is ENORMOUS.
The CV grounds are well kept and updated. The pool areas are quite nice, though I think the spa pool could use more amenities (maybe a food/drink delivery service from the main cabana?). There are plentiful pool chairs and loungers, and a good variety of seating choices around each of the 3 pools. There are lots of outdoor grill and bonfire areas, as well as community games that are kept in great, clean condition.
As someone who enjoys long walks, I was very pleased with the number of wide, shaded and sunny pathways around the CV. My only complaint about this place, however, are the "decorative" sidewalks. Some of the sidewalks are oddly geometric in shape, perhaps as a means to make them more aesthetically pleasing. I tripped off/over the edge of the sidewalks on more than one occasion because they unexpectedly narrow and widen. They also randomly dip in some places, which creates giant basins of standing water when it rains. I was up past my ankles in standing water one day because there was no way to go around the giant "puddle" of water.
I really appreciated the shuttle service. I walked over to the JW at least once per day (it's about a half mile away), but a shuttle ran between the CV and the JW twice per hour. There was also a shuttle that ran from the CV to the local outdoor shopping/restaurant district once per hour! It was so useful, especially when we did a grocery run. There is a shuttle stop in front of the Albertsons :) If we wished to go elsewhere, like to the local museum, we used Uber.
The staff were accommodating and we didn't have any issues with anything.
Canyon Villas is a great place to stay! I can't wait to vacation here again!!
