I had Century Link in my first place in Phoenix and since I purchased the modem I decided to keep with Century Link when I moved. The customer service was decent but the internet (that's all I signed up for) was slow and I would lose service frequently. I signed up for internet and long distance phone for my new place. The reason I signed up for the phone is because it was cheaper. Internet alone was 85 and bundled with the phone it costs 65/mo. I don't watch tv and didn't want the tv service so to save twenty dollars a month I took the unlimited long distance with the internet.
Since I've moved in December it's been a nightmare with Century Link. They charged me for a new modem that I already had as well as charged me for renting a modem. They insisted that they had to send me a new one because it was their policy and if I didn't need it to send it back. They said that I could 'refuse' it when it came or take it to the post office. I didn't understand why they 'made' me take it. I returned it to a CL retailer and the woman said that they didn't need to send me one if I already had one.
When the bill came the charges for shipping and handling of the modem was on there along with the charge of the modem and they wouldn't deduct it right away. They said that it would come off of my Feb bill. I had to pay for a modem that I didn't need as well as other misc charges and now that I have the Feb bill I see that once again nothing has been deducted.
Since December I've logged in 4 hours with CL trying to fix the aforementioned issues with the billing. I'm looking at more time because my Feb bill is 542.00. The high charge is from the unlimited long distance. I signed up for 35/month unlimited long distance and received a 542.00 charge AND still no deduction from the shipping and handling, modem, linebacker service and a 30 dollar credit that I was promised for putting up with 'the hassle'.
The WORST internet/phone company ever! I'm in search of another provider. So not looking forward to calling and logging in another hour to try and straighten this out.
I do not recommend this company what-so-ever. Steer clear!
