Prior to writing this review I had been to Jacs before and wasn't impressed. It was when I was younger, cheaper and less patient. So I took the girlfriend there on a Tuesday Date Night to see what's crackin these days on Monroe St.
We rolled in at 7pm and every table was spoken for except one, so we were seated right away. Sweeeeet. We each had a craft cocktail with different house infused vodkas. Her's was a black tea infused vodka with lemoncella, mine a raspberry infused vodka with lemonade and fresh raspberries. Both were great. Mine was better.
My girlfriend had of the mussels with frites. She was smart and asked for all 4 sauces for the frites- sage aioli, BBQ, hot aioli and some other aioli. Her lemon butter Chardonnay mussels were good. Nothing to write home about, but good. I didn't know what to order so I asked the waitress what she is going to eat tonight and without hesitation she said the bourbon burger. That made up my mind. The bourbon burger was a treat. The combination of sweet bourbon aioli with salty bacon and melted muenster cheese was impressive. The flavorful grass fed beef was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Oh it was awesome. I rarely order the same thing twice at a restaurant but I will crave one of these on a hungover Sunday, promise.
