  • As a pho pho-natic, I've tried many places in the 'burgh and beyond. PHO TAI ($9.50): I don't have a large appetite and maybe my stomach is just a black hole for noodles, but I really felt that the portion was insufficient. The amount of meat matched the noodles. One of my friends actually ordered extra noodles on the side.. On top of that, the broth didn't warm my soul like pho usually does. We were given appropriate-ish amount of basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos and lime. Moreover, I do like that they have little sauce cups for your hoisin/sriracha dip! SERVICE: Good. The woman who served us was very nice and accommodating to our group of 9! We went during late evening on a weekend and there were a few other couples there eating. I would like to note that we did not know we wouldn't be given our checks at the table but we had to go to the register at the front. ATMOSPHERE: Nothing special, pretty typical of a pho place. The photos (of Vietnam?) on their back wall are quite nice. Pho Van wasn't a show stopper, but if I can't walk a block to the other pho shop down the street, I guess I'll end up here.
