I had very high expectations based on the reviews and lets just say I will never return. I was seen by NP Becky and she was all over the place; she couldn't seem to listen and kept jumping in and then asking me to repeat myself. It was the worse patient encounter I've ever seen as a clinician and experienced as a patient. More importantly, she was more concerned with talking about putting me on the pill then with listening to my complaint. I'm in my late 20's, married, and have a graduate degree so I certainly do not appreciate anyone imposing their views of contraception but I especially did not appreciate that she referenced outdated statistics (based on my own review of the AJOG). Furthermore, she used a patronizing tone, minimized my complaints, and exercised poor word-choice - in particular when it came to patient history questions about births, miscarriages, etc. She should also get updated on new recommendations for pap smears because she suggested I needed to return for a pap in order to get medication refills which is very patronizing and not supported by new gynecological guidelines or my history since I am not a high-risk patient and have never had an abnormal pap. I can also afford a visit for a refill and never asked to be billed for a well woman's exam. I'm not sure if her experience comes from working with the adolescent population however, she should still treat her patients with respect regardless of their age. I never asked her for her opinion on when I should conceive and have my reasons for not wanting contraception which were made clear at the beginning of the appointment. I will not be going back and I feel that this practitioner is culturally insensitive and ignorant.
